Cataract is the world's first blinding eye disease, with more than 4 million cataracts in our country. Due to family economic conditions and insufficient awareness of eye diseases, considerable cataract patients still do not receive timely surgical treatment, which seriously affects the physical health and quality of life of the elderly.
On March 10, 2017, the China Human Rights Development Foundation Rescue Fund for Human Security launched a donation campaign for cataract rehabilitation for the poor and donated 100,000 yuan for cataract rehabilitation for the poor. On the day of the event, Changchun Aier Eye Hospital came to the site to explain the related knowledge of cataract disease. Through the activities, popularize the ophthalmology knowledge to the general public, so that more cataract patients can get timely and satisfactory treatment, see the light again, and improve the quality of life.
In the speech, Ms. Qiu Yan, the project director of the Amendment Pension Group, stated that the China Human Rights Development Foundation Acumen Benefit Fund has been committed to the development of the people's health cause, which has affected the relief of the poor in society to a certain extent. In this caring donation for the poor elderly cataract, based on the advantages of Changchun Aier Eye Hospital from the diagnosis, treatment, care, and services, especially the contribution of social welfare, the medical unit of this activity was selected as Changchun City after comprehensive evaluation. Aier Eye Hospital also hopes that people from all walks of life and enterprises can join the caring team together, bringing warmth and hope to more poor elderly people.
It is understood that since its establishment in May 2015, the Human Rights Development Foundation of China Human Rights Development Fund has raised a total of 5 million yuan through social fundraising. It has launched 16 public welfare projects through Tencent Public Welfare to donate rice, soybean oil and flour to poor elderly people. And health food, covering about 16 million yuan, covering three provinces in Northeast China, Jiangxi Province, Ningxia, Shandong Province, and Anhui Province, and motivating the public to care for and help the elderly in poverty and empty nests.
This loving donation to the poor elderly cataract rehabilitation operation has been a complete success. I especially thank the Changchun Aier Eye Hospital for their cooperation and hope that the elderly who have undergone the surgery in this loving donation will soon see the light again.
